2 Thai artists + 1 film director
Navin Rawanchaikul and Surasi Kusolwong, 2 up-and-coming stars among Thai contemporary artists, showed their works at Palais de Tokyo, a new space for contemporary art's scene opened for public on January 21, 2002. "SUPERM(ART)", a major work for the show among more than 30 artworks by international-invited artists, created by Navin, showed a big impact for the opening event and was televised by French local television. The opening ceremony started with a speech from the prime ministry which was held in front of Navin's work.

NavinNavin initiating the theme of this show, "what is the future of art?", the question "art = m(art)" Navin posted to make museum-goers carefully think about thing that they have been familiar with for a long time. He also asked everyone to donate his/her ideas for sharing.

Navin sees that art in the next 50 years will have less impact as it has now. Art museums around the world will shut themselves down and turn to be a sort of market places like parking garage, casino, restaurant or warehouse. People can be an artist in just one click since they can download or buy special computer software from any nearby store that can help them doing a-master-kind of artwork just in a few minutes. The man behind this unexpected future for Navin has called himself a "Curatorman Inc.", a company that can make a big change for the future of art world.

Navin in the next 50 years

Navin in the next 50 years, old, forgotten and poor, won a first prize of a Thai lottery and came to Paris planning to see his glories in the art museums. He found that nothing has left for him in the art world. Without any understanding, he faced with a young CEO of Curatorman Inc., whose father was a famous curator for Navin. He listened to the plans of curatorman's campaign which made him uncontrollable and felt miserable (shown on the top and on the left).

With his envisioning story, Navin asked any museum-goers to express their ideas about the future of art. He had arranged several boards (shown on top) closed to his huge painting to post any donated idea which will be investigated and analyzed later by his curator team.

While Navin raised the questions of future of art, in front of his show, Surasi Kusolwong turned the atmosphere of an art museum into a Sunday market. His show, La-La-La Market (Welcome 1 Euro), the same show that traveled to several cities including its debut in Bangkok, draw a huge attention from many museum-goers. The impact of colorful plastic products which hardly find in Europe were placed, stacked and displayed on the colorful boards. Surasi in a retailer mood with a colorful umbrella hat, tried to persuade museum-goers to come by and purchase his merchandise by using several ways, such as turn on Thai pop musics and shouting in Thai and English phases and songs with a Sunday market style.
